I don’t think it was a sin. Because it didn’t feel like a sin. It felt like I’m supposed to feel.

i’m going to clear the air because watching book stans try to talk about television and things is making me lose my mind.
heisserer, the writer of the TGT/SOC adaptation is a BIG six of crows fan. ok, he’s literally had a kaz fan art icon for more than a year. he is also the writer of ARRIVAL (2016). a masterpiece of a movie, which was also a book adaptation. then there is the fact that leigh bardugo herself is AN EXECUTIVE PRODUCER. stop worrying about the race of the actors, how the mental illness will be portrayed etc. etc.
you have a huge dedicated fan of the show writing it AND THE AUTHOR IS AN EXECUTIVE PRODUCER.
now, no adaptation can be perfect and there will be points that are left out and aren’t as fleshed out as it was possible in the text.
let me address some questions i saw around because lmao.
1) kaz voice over?
almost a definite no. voice over is rarely practiced in television and when it is, it isn’t executed well or is abandoned quickly. but i still believe kaz’s true feelings can be shown if the actor for kaz is good.
2) how will they deal with kuwei and wylan plot?
easy? kuwei’s actor will just play both roles until wylan returns to his own form. i swear it’s like none of y’all have seen the parent trap.
3) how will they fit the tgt into season one and soc into season 2 with only eight episodes each?
these episodes will clearly be longer than a usual 20-30 minute television episode. think 54 minutes per episode which is usual. this will be treated as a mini-series. i believe they will be able to fit the events into 8 episodes each. by cutting out inconsequential scenes it’ll be fine. tgt will lose more than six of crows since it is longer (but honestly don’t we want that).
4) representation
LEIGH IS AN EXEC PRODUCER. THE WRITER IS A FAN OF THE SHOW WHO HAS FANART DEPICTING NINA AS PLUS SIZE, INEJ AS ASIAN, AND JESPER AS BLACK IN HIS TWITTER HEADER WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?????? it is taboo to not have diverse representation in main characters of television programs nowadays, especially ones geared towards young adults. please calm down. leigh knows how much her characters mean to us and how important their diversity is.
now as far as mental illness and relationships will go, things cannot and will not be as slow and fleshed out as they were in the book because it’s television and we’re also unable to be in the characters heads.
it has also been confirmed as a full length series! so each season will have eight episodes each. so seriously stop worrying about time and length affecting the story.
ALSO LEIGH HAS CONFIRMED EVEN MORE DIVERSITY! (see screencap below) PLEASE SHUT UP AND TRUST HER.

1) again regarding diversity:
all the posts about “i’m scared they’ll make nina will skinny, wesper will be straight, and everyone is white!” are only causing more panic and apprehension about the show that is completely unnecessary. you do all realize that gay couples being on tv is not an insane notion anymore? why would inej be white her name is inej and her entire backstory is her coming from an nomadic asian culture. you’re all reaching just to stir up shit and it’s frustrating.
2) kaz and inej being touchy feely
absolutely doubt it because there’s so many couples they can do that with. if they need a kissing scene they can use matthias and nina, if they need a flirting scene they can use wylan and jesper. PLUS they’re already getting all this romance from tgt it doesn’t make sense that they’d change kaz and inej so much just for a sex or kiss scene that any other character could have. again, you’re reaching.
everyone moving forward please use common sense before posting about the show, i beg of you.
In case you couldn’t tell, I’m super excited.
“The patient: this 3-day-old little boy was born with torn upper and lower wings. Let’s see how we can help!”
Today the Department of Awesomely Good Deeds salutes costume designer and master embroiderer Romy McCloskey who used her fine skills with delicate materials to help a monarch butterfly she’d raised and who’d emerged from his cocoon with damaged right wings.
“The operating room and supplies: towel, wire hanger, contact cement, toothpick, cotton swab, scissors, tweezers, talc powder, extra butterfly wing”

“Securing the butterfly and cutting the damaged parts away. Don’t worry it doesn’t hurt them. It’s like cutting hair or trimming fingernails”

“Ta-da! With a little patience and a steady hand, I fit the new wings to my little guy”

“The black lines do not match completely and it is missing the black dot (male marking) on the lower right wing, but with luck, he will fly”

“FLIGHT DAY! After a day of rest and filling his belly with homemade nectar, it is time to see if he will fly”
“With a quick lap around the yard and a little rest on a bush, he was off! A successful surgery and outcome! Bye, little buddy! Good luck”

Imagine being the biologist who finds this little dude in the wild and realizes someone loved him enough to do a full on wing transplant
It’s stories like these that make life worthwhile! So beautiful!
